Rice Mills

One has to understand how steam boilers work and why they are such a vital component in the rice mills.

Steam boilers are vital for various operations in rice mills, providing the necessary heat and steam for several key processes. Paddy processors need steam boilers for several operations involved in rice mills and these include;

  • Parboiling: Parboiling involves using steam from boilers while polishing includes using hot water which is acquired by heating water in boilers. It also concentrates the rice, preserves the oil quantity in the rice and also increases the nutritional value of rice. The techniques used include Single steaming, double steaming, hot water soaking, and mechanical drying.
  • Paddy Separation and Whitening: Puffing of the paddy is done using the boilers and husking and whitening of the grains can also be done using boilers.
  • Power Generation: They are also referred to as steam generators widely used in power plants in various operations and activities in the rice milling business.
  • Packaging and Storage: Drying and packaging heaters and the use of boilers are crucial to retain the quality of rice as well as enhancing its durability.

Key Considerations for Steam Boilers: Some of the important aspects, which must be taken into consideration while selecting and designing steam boilers are as follows:

  • Boiler Capacity and Efficiency: To meet milling requirements at lower fuel cost, recommend the right size and highest thermal efficiency boilers.
  • Fuel Type: Rice husk is cheaper and environmentally friendly as they are non-conductive to heat and light and do not leave waste or block the area.
  • Reliable Operation: The accessory should be high quality and long-lasting to extend its usefulness to the rice mills without experiencing much wear.
