Thermocol

The thermocol or expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam industry uses steam boilers in several of the processes in foam manufacturing. The manufacturing of Thermocol commonly referred to as Expandable Polystyrene or EPS consists of some key steps where the role of the steam boiler is quite prominent. Here's a simplified overview: 

Thermocol, or expanded polystyrene (EPS), is produced through the following steps

  • Pre-expansion: 

Bead Production: The polystyrene beads are expanded using steam with the help of the steam boilers. 

  • Molding: 

Mold Preparation: Beads are enlarged and then placed in molds. Steam helps in cementing the beads into the required solid structure. 

  • Cooling and Stabilization: 

Cooling: The molds are then allowed to cool to solidify the shapes that have been formed. 

  • Cutting and Shaping: 

Cutting: Molds are applied to products by employing the cutting-out technique. 

Shaping: Products are made in some special forms through which they are meant to work. 

 

Boiler Considerations in Thermocol Manufacturing

  • Efficient Steam Generation: The boiler efficiency is needed to ensure that the steam quality is consistent to drive the expansion and mold of the beads. 
  • Temperature Control: Controlling temperature is necessary for better conditions regarding the expansion and molding of the material. 
  • Energy Efficiency: Due to high energy requirements, efficient boilers are appropriate to reduce operational costs greatly.
